Understanding the Conversion
Converting CC (Cubic Centimeters) back and forth with HP (Horsepower) is a rule-of-thumb estimate. CC is a measure of engine size (displacement volume), while HP is a measure of power output. Consequently, the actual conversion depends on engine tuning, fuel systems, and overall efficiency.
For most conventional 4-stroke small engines found in portable generators, lawnmowers, pressure washers, and go-karts, the accepted standard is:
- 1 HP is approximately equal to 30 to 35 CC.
- In this calculator, we use 32.5 CC as the middle-ground factor.
